Meet the New Principals of Jackson County's Elementary Schools (2026)

Get ready for some exciting news from Jackson County! A fresh wave of leadership is about to hit the elementary schools, and we're here to introduce you to the new principals!

The Jackson County School System (JCSS) has just announced the hiring of three incredible individuals to take on the role of principal at their respective elementary schools. But here's where it gets interesting: one of these new principals will be overseeing a brand-new school in the Hoschton school cluster, set to open its doors in the fall of 2027!

Let's meet the new leaders:

  • Ms. Aja Ledford: She's been an integral part of the JCSS family since 2011, working at various schools within the system. With a bachelor's degree in early childhood education and advanced degrees in education, Ms. Ledford is now taking on the role of principal at Heroes Elementary School (HES), a position she's well-prepared for after serving as assistant principal since the school's opening in 2024.

  • Ms. Alison Stover: Currently the assistant principal at Gum Springs Elementary School, Ms. Stover brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her new role as principal at North Jackson Elementary School (NJES). Her educational background includes a bachelor's and master's degree in early childhood education, as well as an education specialist degree and an educational leadership certificate.

  • Dr. Nicole Matthews: This educator and administrator has been a key part of the West Jackson Elementary School team in Hoschton, serving as assistant principal since 2022. Dr. Matthews holds a bachelor's degree in early childhood education, a master's degree in the same field, an educational specialist degree, and a doctorate in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. She will be taking on the exciting challenge of preparing to open the new Hayes Farm Elementary School (HFES) in 2027, while also continuing her role as assistant principal at West Jackson until January of that year.

And this is the part most people miss: HFES will become the eighth elementary school in the Jackson County School System in 2027, opening alongside Hoschton High School. Sell's Mill Middle School is also set to join the cluster in the fall of 2028.

Dr. Philip Brown, the JCSS Superintendent, expressed his enthusiasm for the new principals, highlighting their experience, passion for student success, and commitment to excellence. He believes they are an exceptional fit for their schools and the community.

So, what do you think about these new appointments? Are you excited to see the impact these leaders will have on the schools and the community? We'd love to hear your thoughts and opinions in the comments below! Feel free to share your experiences and insights, and let's spark a conversation about the future of education in Jackson County!
