Christmas travel plans in Leicester just got a makeover! Get ready for some seasonal shifts in your bus routines because the holiday season is bringing timetable changes across the city. Starting from Monday, all bus companies in Leicester will be adjusting their schedules for the festive period.
To avoid any travel troubles, it's a good idea to double-check the latest timetables before you head out. These changes will last until January 3, 2026. The Leicester Buses Partnership is sending out holiday wishes along with this important update.
Let's break down the changes, shall we?
- On Monday and Tuesday, Arriva and Central Connect routes will follow a Saturday service schedule.
- On Christmas Eve, Arriva and First Bus will run a Saturday service, ending around 6:00 PM GMT. Novus Direct will operate a Sunday service until 8:00 PM. Centrebus weekday services will wrap up at 6:00 PM, while Stagecoach and Skylink will end their services at 8:00 PM.
- Christmas Day will see a complete standstill for buses.
- On Boxing Day, only Skylink will be running, following a Sunday timetable.
The weekend after Christmas will have services running as usual. But here's where it gets a bit more complex... December 29, December 30, and New Year's Eve will operate on a Saturday service, except for the HH, 81, and 83/A routes, which will stick to their regular schedules. On New Year's Eve, services will wrap up early, around 6:00 PM.
New Year's Day will see no bus services. On January 2, 2026, a Saturday service will be in place, except for the HH, 81, and 83/A routes.
